TIME FOR ACTION:
Sustainable Finance Serving
the Real-Economy Transition

By laying at the forefront of value creation, financial players have a key role to play in the transition to a sustainable, inclusive, nature-positive, and low-carbon economy. While the focus in recent years has been on aligning the financial industry with ESG commitments, it is now time for the sustainable finance sector to lead the real-economy transition.

To do so, financial decision-makers need to focus on “how” financial products can make the economy more sustainable rather than on metrics of “what” makes them sustainable or green. Building impact-oriented portfolios, encouraging sustainable corporate, government and individual practices and increasing access to capital for sustainable activities are just some of the ways in which sustainable finance can have an impact on the real economy transition.

How can the financial sector measure and demonstrate the impact of its activities on the real economy? What are the best practices and policies that can be implemented to foster sustainable finance and its integration across the industry and companies? How can sustainable finance be leveraged to address systemic issues that impede the relationship between sustainability and financial value creation?

These questions will guide the conversations at the 2023 Sustainable Finance Summit, Québec’s flagship event on sustainable finance, and will address critical topics, including climate change, biodiversity, energy and just transition. Join decision-makers, experts and thought leaders to help shape sustainability integration approaches that transform finance and accelerate change in the real economy.
