NURTURING THE EARTH: ADVANCING REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE IN SUSTAINABLE FINANCE

Presented by Tikehau Capital

2:15-3:15 pm

Industrial agriculture and deforestation to create pasture for livestock farming constitutes the second-largest sources of global greenhouse gas emissions, a significant contributor to biodiversity decline, and uses 70% of the available fresh water in the world (World Bank, 2017). In response to this, many farmers in Canada and beyond are integrating practices that promote regeneration and resurgence of native ecosystems and provide benefits to local communities, initiatives funded by investors who see the benefit in mitigating industrial agriculture's environmental impact. How can investment funds effectively support and scale regenerative agriculture practices? What metrics and standards are crucial for assessing the success and impact of investment funds in regenerative agriculture, ensuring transparency and accountability? In what ways can financial institutions collaborate with farmers, policymakers, scientists, and local communities to create inclusive and resilient agricultural systems that prioritize regenerative practices?
